shoes made for sitting.

I’ve been undergoing a major overhaul of my shoe collection. I’ve always lived by the “if it ain’t broke” style of maintaining what I keep and what I let go of in my wardrobe, leaving me with a pile of t-shirts “gifted” from various events over the years that I now wear to bed, and trainers that rack more dust than miles. So when we were all forced to stay inside and face our interior design choices and clothing purchases, it became the perfect time to go through my stuff for some material cleansing -and hopefully make room for new and long-lasting items.

Enter my new and cool strappy sandals from Intentionally Blank. Made from a soft leather with not-too-high of a heel and eye-catching straps. I originally fell in love with their black counterpart, alas, they didn’t have my size in the black in stock, “but we do have the cream, do you want to try that on?” And as one good fate led to another, I was walking out with the a new pair of fun sandals to wear; a pair that would look great with those cream Agolde jeans or my puffy Aritzia dress, and could take me from day to night and back again.

Or so I hoped.

Their coolness and fun vibes stopped at it’s design and didn’t come out in it’s comfort. On my little errand run I started off strong, feeling confident and giddy, but things took a quick turn for the blistery as the rubbing of the straps made it nearly impossible to carry on with my list of dropping off film, going to the tailors and buying more hand cream. My little excursion was cut short, and whereupon returning home I found myself with two puffy consequences on either sides of my feet. Oh the heartbreak when you put a material object on too high of a pedestal and you only unearth its mortal features post-purchase.

This is the tale of a pair of shoes that look lovely, are crafted beautifully, and styles fabulously, but were incompatible with my anatomy.

Do I still have bandaids on my feet? Yes. Do I regret buying these sandals? No. I wanted a pair of cream short-heeled sandals that were seasonless and edgy to my style, and I will continue to wear them -just not to run errands. I’ll wear them to a dinner party where I’ll cab to the restaurant, walk two steps to my seat, and sit and look great in them for the rest of the night.
