TONAL DRESSING.

AS MUCH AS I DESPISE GETTING CHANGED IN THE MORNING (I NEVER SEEM TO HAVE ANYTHING TO WEAR), IT HELPS ME WAKE UP AND SHIFT MY MOOD FOR THE DAY. BESIDES MAKING MY BED AND BRUSHING MY TEETH THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW ASPECTS OF MY ROUTINE I’M STILL CLINGING ONTO AT THE MOMENT.

HOWEVER, THE GROUNDHOG DAY-SYNDROME AND HAVING NOWHERE TO GO HAS DEVITALISED MY ABILITY TO CREATE AN ENSEMBLE. I’M SURE I’M NOT ALONE HERE - SO IN MY EFFORT TO LOOK PUT TOGETHER AND STILL ENJOY DRESSING…

I INTRODUCE TO YOU, TONAL DRESSING.

Monochromatic dressing is nothing new but it’s been seeing a resurgence over the past year. While owning a full matching outfit will be expensive and perhaps not even be feasible (the size you want happens to be the one that’s sold out), dressing in matching colours is simple. Pick a colour and find a top and bottom for it - done!

I find that these outfits seem more effortlessly put together than when I try and pile on all my interesting pieces. Tonal dressing has also allowed me to shop my own wardrobe in a new way, putting together pieces that I might not have worn for a long time because I didn’t know what it would go with.

I’ve been really into pairing the whites and creams in my wardrobe, particularly on the warmer and non-drizzly days for some freshness. Anything from oversized sweatshirts and loose jeans, to my new tailored shorts and white socks. I can dress it up for when I go to the office, or dress it down when I’m just going on a walk around the block.

You could say that this beautiful pony at the farm influenced me to go all cream and white. Maybe my next tonal colour to try will be a light brown, for all the peanut butter I’ve been eating.
